Ezrah Aharone

Professor Ezrah Aharone is a graduate of Hampton University with 35 years of geopolitical experience in Africa, working as a strategist and resource person to governments, businesses, and institutions that include the University of Ghana, Legon, the United Nations (UN), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the U.S. Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), the National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL), Major League Baseball (MLB) and players, the National Basketball Association (NBA) and players, and various entertainers and entrepreneurs.

He is the author of three books that use consciousness of sovereignty as a global lens to interpret the historiography and promote the self-development of Africa and Africa Americans: The Sovereign Psyche: Systems of Chattel Freedom vs. Self-Authentic Freedom, (2016); Sovereign Evolution: Manifest Destiny from Civil Rights to Sovereign Rights, (2008); and Pawned Sovereignty: Sharpened Black Perspectives on Americanization, Africa, War and Reparations, 2003. 

As a professor who specializes in sovereign studies, his academic work focuses on devising applications for mutually beneficial socioeconomic development with Africa, which he is now pursuing through a 2018 partnership he structured between DSU and the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) to help evaluate African governments and implement solutions.  Based on Africa’s emerging economies and opportunities, he views this academic enterprise as an evolutionary means to expand the 21st-century role, relevance, and revenues of HBCUs.
