Program Overview
We invite DSU students to consider the challenging world of teaching and changing the lives of students as a highly qualified teacher. Junior and senior STEM majors are invited to apply for a 1-year Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship, which is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Noyce Scholarships are intended for students who plan to pursue a K-12 mathematics or science teaching career and are enthusiastic about teaching in a high-need school district.
The National Science Foundation Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program (Noyce) addresses the critical need for recruiting, preparing, and retaining highly effective elementary and secondary mathematics and science teachers and teacher leaders who persist as classroom teachers in high-need Local Education Agencies (LEA), (a.k.a. high-need school district). To achieve this goal, Noyce supports talented science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) undergraduate majors and professionals to become effective K-12 STEM teachers. It also supports experienced, exemplary K-12 STEM teachers to become teacher leaders who continue as classroom teachers in high-need school districts.
