Research Interests

Jason Bourke is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Delaware State University, teaching and researching in the areas of American government, political economy, public policy analysis, urban issues, policy and political history, foreign and domestic policy, community development, and political power dynamics. He has published in the areas of national program history, local health policy, graduate program administration, and often presents on teaching and assessment techniques. Before joining the Department of History, Political Science, and Philosophy full time, Dr. Bourke was the Director of Delaware State University’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program.

  • DSU IHER CED Mini-Grant 2023 - 2024 | Community Engaged Research. PI. Secured a mini-grant of $5,000 to partner with the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services to perform an evaluation of their Pandemic Shelter Program
  • Redding Consortium for Educational Equity 2019 - 2023 | Three Successive Contracts. PI and DSU Coordinator. Secured project funding in collaboration with the University of Delaware
  • State of Delaware Department of Education 2021 - 2023 | Contract. Collaborator. Co-wrote and assembled a bid to the Department of Education for the DSU History Department to redevelop statewide history curriculum and teaching materials for Grades 8 and 11
