Leadership Studies, MS
Program Description
The master’s program in Leadership Studies is designed to attract those in mid-level, transition, or senior professional positions seeking leadership development. Learners engage with content that strengthens individual growth and cross-disciplinary leadership competencies for global organizations. The program examines leadership-related topics and how to apply those topics to real-world situations.
The MSLS is a 30-credit degree program that explores leadership theories and practices requisite for contemporary global workplaces and communities. The new degree program will address the gap between the DSU local campus and online graduate programs. Students accepted into the MSLS program will experience graduate-level courses that are experiential and practical for leading across disciplines.
This 30-credit degree program is designed for students to complete in one or two years. The program includes ten courses structured in eight-week sessions. Students complete a three-credit introductory leadership course, an interdisciplinary theories course, and a three-credit capstone.
The undergraduate majors at the university provide a solid foundation and avenue for students to pursue a master’s degree. A leadership degree prepares students for leadership and management positions in various industries and fields, giving individuals the skills and knowledge to excel in these positions. There are very few master’s degree programs at the university that are open to all majors. The Master of Leadership Studies degree will be open to all majors and disciplines and will support the continuation of post-secondary education for degree-seekers at the graduate level.
We plan to expand the degree program with additional concentrations and electives to allow students to explore other disciplinary fields, such as Higher Education Administration, Women in Leadership, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
